meet the chef

Hi! I’m Shahila Abbasi, but everyone calls me “Shy” and I am the owner of Shy’s Eats...

Like so many people, I have struggled with my weight and tried lots of fad diets out there. Nothing worked and the older I got, the harder the struggle became. However, things got real for me a few years ago when my doctor told me I have high cholesterol and was pre-diabetic. I knew it was time to make a lifelong change if I wanted to be around for my family. 


I started working out, which was new for me, and once it became a habit I focused on my nutrition. I assumed food would be the easy part for me being that I have a degree in Culinary Arts and have been a Chef my professional career. I was so wrong!  Between working full-time, being a wife and mom, and life just being crazy, I couldn’t find the time to meal prep. It was so much easier to just grab fast food or pick up a pizza on the way home. The more I talked to friends the more I realized that so many people in my life struggled with finding the time to meal-prep and eat healthy. 


Helping people has always been my nature so when a friend asked me to make healthy meals for her sick mother I didn’t hesitate. When my friends heard about the meals I created for her, they asked me to cook for them. More and more people wanted my meals so from there, Shy’s Eats was born! I decided to leave my Executive Chef position and focus on my business full-time, creating healthy meals and snacks with clean ingredients without sacrificing taste or nutritional value I have been fortunate to partner with a registered dietitian who does the nutritional information because as a Chef I was more used to a “pinch of that” and a “handful of this.” There are still days where I pick up a pizza on my way home but now that I have my meals and snacks planned out it’s’ far less often.  

Shy is also lucky enough to collaborate with Community Care Weight Management. They refer their patients to her and she has helped them tackle their goals with her healthy meal prepped services!
